Pontus Alv Setup FAQ

What deck does Pontus Alv ride?

Pontus Alv rides a Polar Skate Co. 8.125 deck in a 8.125" width as of 2026. Deck choice is the single biggest factor in a pro's setup — width affects stance and stability, while concave and construction drive pop and flick. You can shop the same Polar Skate Co. 8.125 deck through the buy links in the setup above.

What shoes does Pontus Alv skate in?

Pontus Alv skates in Last Resort AB VM001. Skate shoes are built with reinforced toe caps, vulcanized or cupsole construction, and grippy gum rubber outsoles for board feel and durability. Pros often go through several pairs a month from heavy daily skating.

About Pontus Alv

Pontus Alv is a Swedish professional skateboarder, filmmaker, and brand founder from Malmö, born May 16, 1980. He turned pro in the mid-1990s and rode for companies including Cliché and Emerica before founding Polar Skate Co. in Malmö in 2011. Polar grew from an independent project into one of the most influential board companies in the world over the following decade, credited as a leader of the small-brand resurgence that shifted power away from large California-based distributors. Alv has directed all of Polar's video output, and his films, including In Search of the Miraculous and We Blew It at Some Point, are regarded as some of the most artistically distinct skateboarding productions of the 2010s. He later co-founded shoe brand Last Resort AB and truck company Lurpiv.
