Yuto Horigome Setup FAQ
What deck does Yuto Horigome ride?
Yuto Horigome rides a April Skateboards Yuto Horigome Pro Model 8.25 deck in a 8.25" width as of 2026. Deck choice is the single biggest factor in a pro's setup — width affects stance and stability, while concave and construction drive pop and flick. You can shop the same April Skateboards Yuto Horigome Pro Model 8.25 deck through the buy links in the setup above.
What trucks does Yuto Horigome use?
Yuto Horigome uses Independent Trucks Stage 11 149 trucks in size 149. Trucks determine how a skateboard turns and how it lands grinds, and pros typically match hanger width to deck width for proper alignment. Most pro skaters stick with one truck brand for years once they have the feel dialed in.
What wheels does Yuto Horigome ride?
Yuto Horigome rides Spitfire Wheels Formula Four 53mm 99a wheels in 53mm. Wheel size and hardness drive speed and grip — smaller, harder wheels favor technical street skating, while larger, softer wheels suit transition, park, and rougher terrain.
What shoes does Yuto Horigome skate in?
Yuto Horigome skates in Nike SB Dunk Low. Skate shoes are built with reinforced toe caps, vulcanized or cupsole construction, and grippy gum rubber outsoles for board feel and durability. Pros often go through several pairs a month from heavy daily skating.
What bearings does Yuto Horigome use?
Yuto Horigome uses Bones Reds bearings. Bearings determine roll speed and how long your wheels keep spinning, and a properly maintained set should last as long as your wheels with regular cleaning. Pros usually upgrade bearings before swapping wheels.
About Yuto Horigome
Yuto Horigome is a Japanese professional street skateboarder from the Koto ward of Tokyo, born January 7, 1999. His father Ryota was a taxi driver and former street skateboarder who sat his son on a skateboard before he could walk. Horigome grew up skating at the Murasaki Sports Park in Tokyo and by 12 had identified professional skateboarding as his goal. He moved to Los Angeles at 16 to be closer to the skate scene, and in 2018 became the first Japanese skateboarder to win a Street League Skateboarding event. He joined April Skateboards in 2019 after leaving Blind Skateboards, where he had ridden since 2015. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics he won the inaugural men's street gold medal in his home city, posting four consecutive trick scores of 9.03, 9.30, 9.35, and 9.50 for a total of 37.18 including a nollie backside 270 he had never attempted in competition. He became the first skateboarder to defend the men's street Olympic title, winning gold again at the 2024 Paris Olympics with a decisive final trick. He is the first Japanese skateboarder to win Tampa Pro and has won multiple X Games gold medals. He has partnered with Louis Vuitton and Seiko, and a Nike Dunk colorway was released in honor of his home ward.
