Natas Kaupas Setup FAQ
What deck does Natas Kaupas ride?
Natas Kaupas rides a Santa Cruz Skateboards Natas Kaupas Reissue deck as of 2026. Deck choice is the single biggest factor in a pro's setup — width affects stance and stability, while concave and construction drive pop and flick. You can shop the same Santa Cruz Skateboards Natas Kaupas Reissue deck through the buy links in the setup above.
What trucks does Natas Kaupas use?
Natas Kaupas uses Independent Trucks Stage 11 trucks. Trucks determine how a skateboard turns and how it lands grinds, and pros typically match hanger width to deck width for proper alignment. Most pro skaters stick with one truck brand for years once they have the feel dialed in.
What wheels does Natas Kaupas ride?
Natas Kaupas rides OJ Wheels OJ II Team Rider 60mm wheels in 60mm. Wheel size and hardness drive speed and grip — smaller, harder wheels favor technical street skating, while larger, softer wheels suit transition, park, and rougher terrain.
What shoes does Natas Kaupas skate in?
Natas Kaupas skates in Vans Skate Classics. Skate shoes are built with reinforced toe caps, vulcanized or cupsole construction, and grippy gum rubber outsoles for board feel and durability. Pros often go through several pairs a month from heavy daily skating.
About Natas Kaupas
Natas Kaupas is an American former professional skateboarder from South Santa Monica, California, born March 23, 1969, of Lithuanian descent. Raised in the area known as Dogtown, Kaupas is credited alongside Mark Gonzales as one of the pioneers of modern street skateboarding. He turned pro in 1984 for Santa Monica Airlines after appearing on the cover of Thrasher doing a wall ride, then at 16 negotiated a manufacturing and distribution deal with Santa Cruz to meet demand for his boards. His panther graphic decks became some of the best-selling boards of the era. Kaupas received the first professional signature skate shoe ever, from Etnies, in 1987. He invented the Natas Spin on fire hydrants, appeared in Santa Cruz's Wheels of Fire (1987) and Streets on Fire (1989), then founded 101 Skateboards in 1991 through World Industries, a label that later developed Eric Koston, Gino Iannucci, and Jason Dill. He was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2014. Santa Cruz reissue/Vans.
